The web site is designed to assist in the Situation Analysis (SA) of CBOs in Georgia through promoting experience/knowledge sharing among all interested actors involved in the development of civil society in Georgia.

The initiative is funded by UNDP/Georgia office (see the Terms of Reference) within the framework of the regional project "Strengthening CBO Capacity to Empower Communities for more Effective Participation in Poverty Reduction Strategies at Local and National Levels in Central Asia and the Caucasus" run by ECIS SURF office of UNDP.

The SA is intended to be carried out in March-April 2003 (see the Workplan in PDF format).

Success of the SA depends on the openness and willingness of donor community, international and local organizations working directly or indirectly with grassroots organization (community based organizations) to share the relevant information on their past or current activities, achievements, problems, solutions, etc.

I hope the results of the SA could benefit all actors involved in the development of civil society in Georgia.

Sincerely,

David Gzirishvili
