Participation in the Preparation of the Poverty Reduction and Economic Growth Program in Georgia

Donor participation in PREGP Process The donor community became involved in the PREGP process early on. Representatives of donors were present at the meetings of the Sub-Commissions and provided comments and inputs for draft papers of the Sub-Commissions as well as for the Interim-PREGP. Donors are also preparing comments on the Discussion Material (draft version) of the full PREGP.

In order to support the Government, the “Framework for Assistance to Support PREGP Preparation” was created. Seven donors participate in funding and implementation of the Framework:

Two immediate objectives of the Framework include:

1) to strengthen the capacity of Government of Georgia in order to improve the coordination and content of the full-PREGP and

2) to ensure active public participation in the preparation of the full-PREGP by strengthening the relevant capacity of the Government of Georgia.

Donors also plan to support the implementation of Communication Strategy to inform the wide range of Georgian public on the content and purpose of PREGP. Donors meet regularly to discuss issues of relevance to PREGP processes.
