Donor Participation

On July 1, 2000 the President of Georgia signed a Decree N678 on “Supporting the Organizational Activities for Elaboration of Poverty Reduction and Economic Growth Program in Georgia”. According to the Decree, the following five sub-commissions were established (see the structure for details):

Governance & Public Administration Reform

Fiscal & Monetary Policy

Infrastructure

bullet

Agriculture & Environmental Protection.

To facilitate coordination of the sub-commissions a special Governmental commission chaired by the President of Georgia has been set up. Assistant to the President of Georgia in the Economic Reform Issues is the Secretary to the Commission. The Interim Document of Poverty Reduction and Economic Growth Program (PREGP) has been approved by the President of Georgia on November 28, 2000 at the meeting of the Governmental Commission for Elaborating the PREGP. In September 2001 “Framework for assistance of PREGP Preparation” was elaborated by donor community in Georgia to support the coordination within the Government and public participation during the preparation of Final PREGP.
