Purpose

The aim of this web site is to contribute to more effective participation of stakeholders in the preparation of the Poverty Reduction and Economic Growth Program (PREGP) in Georgia.

Specifically, the web site was designed to improve the quality of communication providing equal opportunities and convenient access to all stakeholders to exchange their opinion and share the information on current or upcoming events.

New Events

• The Secretariat organized a 3 day workshop with up to 30 representatives of mass media in order to advance the PREGP communication strategy and assure more effective participation of mass media as a part of civil society in Georgia (Bakuriani, 5-7 Feb 2003)

• The Secretariat organizes a 3 day workshop with the Parliament members to introduce and discuss the final version of the PREGP (Bakuriani, 3-5 Feb 2003)

• The Government of Georgia started the preparation of Georgia Social Protection Reform Project entailing the development of Social Protection Policy Papers as defined by the PREGP. (see more on the project web site)

• The final version of the document called the Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Strategy of Georgia was presented to the donor community on November 25th, 2002.

Important Events and News

• The Development Debates  supported by the World Bank Institute were conducted by the Alliance for Business Environment Development (ABED) in November (download the final report)

• Oxfam/Georgia office produced and submitted to the key stakeholders draft law on Micro-credit Organizations (PDF, in Georgian).

• The presentation "Analysis of the main approaches to the Poverty Reduction National Program", prepared by Mr. Nicko Melikadze and discussed on PRPS Watcher's Network workshop is available for download/review (in Georgian)

• Compiled version of the Participation in the PREGP (Conceptual framework and the Master Plan) with updated schedule of events is available (in Eng) for download. The schedule of events can be viewed separately.
