\Community Input into the Poverty Reduction and Economic Growth Program (PREGP) in Georgia Project

The main purpose for the activities of the Association (GAIT) is to serve as an institution that links Georgian productive businesses and businessmen involved in high technology production along with applied scientists, engineers and inventors, but also scholars and practitioners in various fields of humanities and social science, to the expertise, knowledge, information, institutions and colleagues from other parts of the world, both to maintain the active exchange of technological ideas and innovative approaches, and to attract resources and investments needed to promote technological development in Georgia. GAIT intends to become a crystallization center for independent, innovative thinking and creative initiatives, and to promote the international cooperation in the field. GAIT intends to assist the emerging high technology enterprises to establish their position in the international market, have access to new technical and organizational ideas and achievements. GAIT works in cooperation with the educational and research institutions, such as the Georgian Technical University, State University of Tbilisi, and Institute of Manuscripts of the Georgian Academy of Sciences, in the areas of the technological innovation, professional skills development and continuous education. During last years GAIT carried out several projects in the field of technical education, journalism and civic society building, supported by the Eurasia Foundation, Horizonti foundation and the Open Society Institute network, including the creation and operation of the Centre for Digitalization and Computer Processing of Cultural Heritage, funded jointly by the Open Society Institute in Budapest and the Open Society – Georgia Foundation. GAIT is also involved in dissemination of innovations by running a non-profit publishing house “Quirioni”. |
