Agmashenebeli Center for Social
Welfare Policy Studies
Under
leadership of Director David Gzirishvili and Senior Fellow Tinatin Danelia,
Agmashenebeli Center is playing the leading role in
social protection reform in
Georgia, by
developing the basic concept, frame law, and specific programmatic reforms of
the social services provided by the government of Georgia for its citizens.
Drs. David Gzirishvili and Tina Danelia, as a members of the national task
force contributed to the development of a national policy for disabled
children. Agmashenebeli Center also developed the concept to involve
grassroots communities across Georgia in the preparation of the
Poverty Reduction and Economic Growth Program
(PREGP)
considering the poverty reduction process as a unique chance for rising up a
new civil society through community empowerment As well, both Drs.
Gzirishvili and Devi Khechinashvili are among the leading authors of PREGP
strategy document
Orbeliani Center for Advanced
Strategic and National Security Policy Studies
In a
concept developed by Director Gia Areshidze, Orbeliani Center aims to
articulate why
Georgia matters in global geopolitical
realities. The research aims
to articulate recommendations for how Georgia should develop its international
and domestic policy in response to these competing interests, and explain why
ensuring the country’s independence and development of liberal democracy in
Georgia is in the interests of the Western community of nations. Orbeliani
Center also conducts yearly analysis of demographic trends in
Georgia.
The research is published annually under the title “Demographic Yearbook of
Georgia.”
Petritsi
Center for Liberal Education Policy
Studies
Under
leadership of Director Guram Mirzashvili, Petritsi Center has developed a
variety of concepts for higher education reform in Georgia. Petristsi Center
has also engaged in extensive analysis of the relationship between
liberal education and democratic citizenship.
Nikoladze Center for Free
Market, Competition, and Private Enterprise Policy Studies
Under
leadership of Director Gogi Loladze, Nikoladze Center is working to determine
the role capitalization of assets plays in the economical development of
transitional economies such as Georgia. The aim of this research is
to determine how best to convert assets of Georgian citizens into capital.
The research examines main problems associated with resource capitalization in
Georgia, explain why this process has not been successful, and make
recommendations for reform. Nikoladze Center has also played an active role
in analyzing the relationship between the Georgian
Administrative Code and the business community, and developed a
variety of strategies to allow business to take advantage of their rights
under the Code.
Chavchavadze Center for
Constitutionalism and Legal Policy Studies
Under leadership of
Director Irakly Areshidze, Chavchavadze Center has taken a leading role in
developing liberal constitutionalism in
Georgia.
In the summer of 2000, it launched a project to analyze the process of
adoption of the current Constitution and study the defects of the document.
In the summer of 2002, PSI announced the second component of the project,
which will use public debates on issues of liberal constitutionalism and their
application to the Georgian political culture to begin the process of
articulating a real social contract for the Georgian state.
